Arched Aluminum Driveway Gates in Metro Detroit

An arched aluminum gate turns a driveway opening into a finished entrance. We build them welded, powder-coated and hung on oversized posts set below the 42″ frost line, so a 12 or 16 foot span still swings level after ten winters.

WHY AN ARCHED ALUMINUM GATE

Wide Gates Fail at the Post. Ours Are Built From the Post Up.

A driveway gate is a lever. Every extra foot of width puts more load on the hinge post, and Michigan frost works that post loose. Here is what we do about it.

Posts Sized for the Span

Driveway gates hang on heavy square posts sized to the leaf width, not the light posts used in the fence line, and set in deep concrete footings.

Footings below 42″

Welded, Not Screwed

Gate frames are welded at the joints and braced so a wide leaf does not rack or sag at the latch end over time.

Holds square for years

Rust-Free in Salt Season

Aluminum and a factory powder coat hold up to the plow spray and road salt that rust a steel gate from the bottom rail up.

No scraping or repainting

Ready for an Opener

We plan post size, pad location and conduit so a swing gate operator can be added now or later without rebuilding the gate.

GATE BUILD STANDARD

Arch Styles, Widths and the Hardware That Holds Them

Arched gates come in two basic shapes. A convex arch rises in the middle, which reads formal and makes the entrance look taller. A concave arch dips toward the center, which suits a gate set between taller masonry columns. On a double gate the two leaves meet to form one continuous curve, so we order them as a matched pair. We match picket style and color to your decorative aluminum picket fence so the gate and fence read as one design.

Single swing gates work well up to about 10 to 12 feet. Past that we recommend a double gate so each leaf stays manageable, or a slide gate where the driveway slopes. Swing gates need level ground through the arc, so we check grade before quoting. HOW A GATE PROJECT RUNS

Measured, Ordered, Hung and Adjusted

Driveway gates are made to order, so the measure has to be exact. Plan on a few weeks of lead time between approval and install day.

01

Step 1

Measure the Opening & Grade

We measure post to post, check slope through the swing arc and talk through manual or automatic operation before quoting.

Step 2

Permit, HOA & Order

We file the permit and HOA packet, call in Miss Dig 811, and order the gate built to the measured opening.

Step 3

Set Posts, Hang & Adjust

OPTIONS & UPGRADES

Driveway Gate Choices

The style decisions that shape how your entrance looks and works every day.

Convex Arch

The top rail rises toward the center. The traditional estate look, and the most common choice for brick colonials.

Concave Arch

The top rail dips toward the center and rises at the posts. Frames a view of the house and suits tall column entrances.

Flat Top

No arch, a straight top rail. Modern homes and gates that must match a flat-top fence line.

Spear or Finial Tops

Pickets topped with spears or finials add the wrought-iron look. Flat-top pickets are friendlier where kids play.

Matching Walk Gate

A pedestrian gate beside the driveway gate, in the same arch, so guests are not walking through the car gate. If it opens into a pool area it must meet pool barrier rules.

Opener and Access Control

Swing gate operators, keypads and remotes. See ornamental driveway gates for more automation options.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Aluminum Driveway Gate Questions

What homeowners ask before ordering a made-to-measure gate.

How much does an arched aluminum driveway gate cost?

Installed, most single arched aluminum driveway gates land roughly between $2,500 and $5,500, and double gates roughly between $4,500 and $9,000, including heavy posts and footings. Width, height, style and automation move the number. Your written quote itemizes the gate, posts and labor.

How wide can an aluminum driveway gate be?

Single swing leaves are practical up to about 12 feet. Openings from 12 to 20 feet usually get a double gate. Wider openings or steep driveways are often better served by a slide gate.

Will a wide aluminum gate sag?

Not when the frame is welded and braced and the hinge post is sized for the load and set below the frost line. Sagging gates almost always trace back to undersized or shallow posts.

Can I add an automatic opener later?

Yes, if the gate and posts were planned for it. We size posts for an operator and can run conduit during install so adding automation later does not mean rebuilding.

Does my driveway slope matter?

Yes. A swing gate needs the ground under its arc to be level or falling away. If the driveway rises toward the house, we can raise the gate, swing it outward where allowed or recommend a slide gate.

Do I need a permit for a driveway gate?

Most cities and townships treat a driveway gate as part of the fence permit, and front-yard height limits still apply. Some also require gates to swing inward or stay set back from the sidewalk. We confirm the rules and file the permit for you.
