Because most Metro Detroit cities limit front-yard fences to about 3 to 4 feet and often require them to be partly open, a 4-foot vinyl picket is the default front-yard build. We confirm your lot's setback and height rules before quoting, since they change from one city to the next.

Alternating-board and spaced-board panels screen a patio, hide trash cans or ring a garden while letting air move, which matters on small lots where a solid wall feels boxed in. The traditional cottage profile with pointed tops in 3 to 5 foot heights. Pairs well with older bungalows and colonials.

How tall can a front-yard picket fence be in Metro Detroit?
Most cities in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb limit front-yard fences to about 3 to 4 feet, and some require them to be partly open. Corner lots often have extra sightline limits near the street. We confirm your lot's rules before quoting.
How much does a vinyl picket fence cost?
Most 4-foot vinyl picket projects land between $25 and $40 per linear foot installed, and semi-privacy styles between $30 and $48. Gates, scalloped tops, woodgrain and old-fence removal move the number. You get an exact written price after the free measure.
Will a vinyl picket fence keep my dog in?

Can a vinyl picket fence follow a slope?
Yes. Many picket styles can be racked so the rails follow the grade while pickets stay vertical. Steeper or uneven yards get stepped sections. We check which method your chosen style allows.
Does white vinyl get dirty or turn yellow?
Dust and pollen collect on any fence, and a hose or soft brush with mild soap removes it. Yellowing comes from low-grade recycled vinyl. We install virgin PVC with UV inhibitors that holds its color.
Should I choose vinyl or wood for a picket fence?
Vinyl costs a bit more up front but never needs painting. If you want a hand-painted look or a custom picket profile, compare our classic wood picket fencing.
